Back to YART !

YART ¡ Yet Another Route Tool ! has been created in march of 2013. It is a website focussed on flight simulation. YART is born as a parser for RouteFinder output to produce a FS flight plan file (to ease ATC contact and GPS importation). YART is an easy way to use the current AIRAC cycle within MFS. YART also suggests a workflow (in advanced mode) for flight preparation.

Since the original release other means of data entry have been incorporated and the use of RouteFinderFree is no more the sole entry. You can for instance draw a track on Skyvector.com and give it to YART. You could also write in plain text the route in the YART Composer in order to produce the FS flight plan, flight briefings, Delco Carousel INS cards and much more.

Disclaimer: files provided by this program are *NOT* TO BE USED FOR REAL WORLD NAVIGATION. The author of the program declines the responsibility for any bad consequence caused by the use of a flight plan generated by the program. The data is intended to be used only for flight simulation programs.

Presenting YART ¡ Yet Another Route Tool !

TransaTvia.com is proud to present you YART ¡ Yet Another Route Tool !

Find a route on RouteFinder, copy the details in YART ¡ Yet Another Route Tool !, then click on "SUBMIT". That's all ! You get the weather and a route compiled in the FS format directly from RouteFinder website output !

The idea behind YART ¡ Yet Another Route Tool !

TransaTvia.com écrit :
What's the idea behind YART ? There are a lot of flight planners out there. However, most are not freeware, you must pay for them. The truth is, the flight preparation can mostly be done for free ! For instance, you have the great (and free) NAVIGATION (by François Fouchet) program to plan a navigation.

One of the many ways to start a flight preparation is to take a first look at RouteFinderFree(c) ASA sarl 2005 to get an idea of which route could be followed. But, you know, if you are flying offline, there is little chance that the current AIRAC cycle and this route would be recognized by the FS planner and its ATC service. So you could switch to the software Navigation, plot every waypoint on its interface and export an FS flight plan for FS9. Then, FS could be feed with the data. FS only use the coordinates from the flight plan entered, and doesn't use its internal (and old) data base. Therefore you could follow the current route within FS.
But that's long and sometimes, you could be kinda tired of launching Navigation and plot every waypoint along the route. While it is a nice way of reviewing carefully a route before flight sometimes you might want to fire up the simulator quicker, while retaining the capacity to fly along a realistic route under ATC surveillance.

From this statement came the idea of an integrated "virtual dispatcher unit" which would produce the flight plan directly from a RouteFinder output. YART ¡ Yet Another Route Tool !© isn't a flight planner on its own, rather an integrator of free resources with the ability to switch from it to external flight sim websites to expand the preparation. I recommand for instance visiting The Owl's Nest, FSRealWSlite(c), RouteFinder(c) and SkyVectors.com(r) websites.

YART 2.0

TransTvia.com écrit :
YART 2.0 has been released on 8th September of 2013.

The new functionnality is the capability for the user to save a flight plan in the YART format. This file is named a "company route". It can be given as input to ConvertRfinder. Why is it usefull ? Imagine that you first use a RouteFinderFree output but that this route is not validated at Eurocontrol. You then may fine-tune your route by iterations, looking at an en-route chart, searching in RouteFinderFree the new waypoints coordinates, and composing manually a ConvertRfinder input in the adequate YART field until validation by Eurocontrol. From v2.0, you can save on your computer this personnalised input, and use it later again. At that time, the route may not be valid any more, for instance if an airway changed in the real world, but you can keep your previous route as a basis.

The plot of the flight plan on Skyvector.com has also been enhanced. The whole code was also adjusted and some functions optimised. A super-user mode has been created, to be accessed with a password, to expand some functions while keeping them lite for the normal user.

Before v2.0 the capability to produce an OFP document and retrieve NOTAMs had also been added.

To sum up, the original function of ConverRfinder was to produce a flight plan file for MSFS ATC, but the functionnality has now been extended to simulate a lite dispatcher. While other software available for flight simulation may be complete dispatcher simulation, ConvertRfinder and its interface YART is still mainly a simple workflow for flight preparation.

12th of October 2013 : YART 2.4 is out

TransaTvia.com écrit :

With the present release of YART 2.4, we have now reached a good maturity in the project. Our goals are now achieved. All the functions we had in mind at the opening of the project in march 2013 are now operative.

On top of the convertrfinder engine we have now features such as OFP generating and, with the version 2.4, IVAO related functions. Indeed, with 2.4 comes the Ivap flight plan for those of you who are flying online with the software Ivap.

You can find the download link for the IVAO flight plan at the bottom of the results when creating a FP in advanced mode.

We would like to emphasize again that all this work is for flight simulation only. In the YART workflow we care about accuracy in regard to real civil aviation and instrumented flight rules. However no data from here can be used for real aviation.

Since all the function are working now, developpment will slow down at that time. Only minor code fixes should happen now. We hope that the engine will be usefull for simmers and we thank you for your interest in this project !

THANK YOU !

YART Library

TransaTvia.com écrit :
Along with v2.42, we are proud to annouce that the Library is now connected to YART.

The "Library" contains a set of manually curated flight plans. They have been validated against the Initial Flight Plan Processing System at Eurocontrol. This is a way to share quality flight plan for free. We deeply think that accessing a flight plan should ever be free (free of extra buck or free of any kind of registration in any website or system).

It is not possible for the user to add its own flight plans. We indeed want to insure quality. So we keep the control. New flight plans will be uploaded in the library on a regular basis. Keep in mind that they have been validated at the moment of the upload, so you may retry the validation at the very moment of the flight.

While it is not possible for the user to use the library to save a route built within YART, it is still possible to do it on its own computer and reload it as a company route later.

YART v.2.7 is now out !

TransaTvia.com écrit :
Today we publish the version 2.7 of YART Yet Another Route Tool.

- Reworked intuitive help for the new user [Interface]
We worked to improve the interface and provide more help for the new user. Now we load an integrated sample in the YART interface. This example is a detailled route to show what the user must copy into YART. But as soon as the mouse is moved over the YART input field the example disappears to make room for the real user input.

- OFP for the McDonnel Douglas MD81 [Core engine addition]
We added the briefing and loadsheet for the MD-81. It is very simplified in contrast with the B737 briefing and loadsheet also available in the YART advanced mode. It is intended for "transitionnal simmers" in commercial liners. This kind of user might use the CLS-type of simulations, more detailled than default MFS planes but not as complex as procedural simulations. For the user that want to commit the next step in realism in flight preparation we provide this briefing for the CLS MD81 simulation for FSX. It might not be applicable for other McDonnel Douglas 80 simulations.

- Fix the company route importation which was broken [Core engine fix]
The user is now able to use a route saved on his own computer. The function has been broken in the past, it's back and fully functionnal. You can save on your computer this personnalised input, and use it later again in YART.

YART VFR

TransaTvia.com écrit :
YART VFR is now fully operationnal in version 1.0.

With YART, you were already able to prepare seriously an IFR flight. You could use a RouteFinder result, or enter in advanced mode and write down you own route or draw it on skyvector.com and then compose the whole path manually in the YART interface.

Now, using the previousely developped Skyvector.com module, we offer the possibility to obtain directly a VFR GPS MFS flight plan from a dedicated YART VFR page !

The idea is to use the Skyvector.com page with the VFR chart background to draw a track per GPS coordinates and export it to YART VFR.

In strong compliance with the existing IFR interface, this YART VFR page allows you to retrieve the weather and save an IVAO file if you wish. The IVAO file is to be loaded in ivap.

Update : IFR Center v3.2/3.3 and YART VFR 2

TransaTvia.com écrit :
With the version 3.2 is added the possibility to find the real name of a waypoint defined per its coordinates when using YART VFR 2 or the IFR module to import a track from Skyvector.com(c).

Normally, when you give YART a skyvector track (via the export link available on this website) YART attributes an artificial name to the waypoint. Using the freely available databank from X-Plane we are now able to find the name for the waypoints exported from skyvector.com.

There is a limitation however : the geographical coverage of the waypoints in X-plane is worlwide but partial, so some waypoints might be lost.

The version 3.3 increases this new feature with the capability to find the real name of a VOR facility (not only an RNAV intersection) when defined per its coordinates and increases the success in finding a match between the coordinates and the navigation databank for both intersections and VOR.

Version 3.60 of YART is out !

TransaTvia.com écrit :

Hi, this is an update news for YART, Yet Another Route Tool.

In this version 3.60 we have :

- slightly reworked the library style.
- deeply remade the module which looks for suitable alternate airports in the vincinity. [4 major improvements]

In the older version, the module was looking for airports in the vincinity and then expanded at a fixed distance rate the search area to display enough airports in Yart Yet Another Route Tool.

In the newer module, [1] the geographic area is dynamically updated to look for the 10 nearest airports, no matter the size of the search area. [2] The presentation is also redone. The potential alternates airports are now displayed in a table, with the relevant distances to the right of the table. [3] The table can be sorted by airport name or by distance by clicking on the table header. [4] In the end, if the default looktable of 10 airports is not enough to display some relevant airports for your next flight, using the advanced mode you can change the number of airports to be added to the list. If you tick the option "Advanced mode" in Yart, the advanced panel will be displayed as usual. From now on this setting can be changed at the bottom of the advanced panel.

That's all for today ! Thank you for your reading.

ICAO changes for minimum and emergency fuel

TransaTvia.com écrit :

The term MINIMUM FUEL has had different connotations globally. In addition, there has been no standard phraseology to be used when it has been determined that an aircraft will infringe upon its final fuel reserves before landing.

ICAO has issued amendments to both ICAO Annex 6 Part I and the Procedures for Air Navigation Services – Air Traffic Management (PANS-ATM) (Doc4444) and these will take effect from 15 November 2012. In summary, there are amendments to the definitions of declaring MINIMUM FUEL and procedures for protecting final fuel reserve.

Version 3.61 now includes 3 % En - Route Alternate

TransaTvia.com écrit :

Under certain circumstances, it is possible for the captain of an aircraft assuring a commercial transportation flight to reduce the contendency fuel to 3% of the planned trip fuel.

This is achieved with the selection of a specific en-route alternate called "3 % ERA". A "3 % ERA" is a specific en-route alternate aerodrome selected for the purposes of reducing contingency fuel to 3 %.

The UE-COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) No 859/2008 OPS 1.192 legally defines what is the 3 % ERA.

The 3 % ERA aerodrome shall be located within a circle having a radius equal to 20 % of the total flight plan distance, the centre of which lies on the planned route at a distance from the destination aerodrome of 25 % of the total flight plan distance, or at least 20 % of the total flight plan distance plus 50 nm, whichever is greater.

Now YART Yet Another Tool 3.61 offers the module to find the 3% ERA upon selection of the YART "Alternate option" for any medium and long haul flight.

Version 3.66

TransaTvia.com écrit :

The update includes the ADEU cards for the Delco Carousel IV-A Inertial Navigation System (CIVA INS).

The Delco Carousel was a popular INS-based navigation automation system for aircraft developed by Delco Electronics. Before the advent of sophisticated flight management systems, the Carousel allowed pilots to automate navigation of an aircraft along a series of waypoints that they entered via a control console in the cockpit or via an optical paper card reader, namely the Automatic Data Entry Unit (ADEU).

This navigation system can be simulated in flight simulator with the gauges contained in the website linked below.

The version 3.66 of Yart now includes the paper cards in the global archive, ready for download from the advanced mode ! Each of our cards contains up to 7 waypoints.

What's new ?

- The library has evolved. You can now select the way you siwh to create the flight plan : with or without metar and fuel price indication, with or without the potential alternate airports in the vincinity of the destination, in advanced mode or in regular mode. For each flightplan you now have a box to tick to choose your preference. You can also change the aircraft listed in the flight plan from the library with your own aircraft using the appropriate selector on the same row. This improve the speed of the engine if you don't want it to produce the full output with metar, cost index, OFP and so on...

- An internal change in folder structure and related modifications in every concerned parts of the interface.

- IVAO flight plan for Ivap : the endurance is now suggested. Of course, you still need to adjust the endurance to your own fuel calculation. But you have a kind of a default one in the Ivap file from now on.

- Links to french and german AIP updated.

- in the News section, a new help PDF about the minimums found on the approach charts and their signification replace the old one from now on.

Bug found !

TransaTvia.com écrit :

A new version of the external website has been published this summer.
Both Skyvector module and of YART VFR are impacted as some internal parsing components need to be rewritten.

As you may know, one of the way to import a flight path into YART was to export an URL from Skyvector and import it through the YART Skyvector module.

But the format of the link exported by Skyvector has now changed. Until we publish an adaptation of our Skyvector module and of YART VFR, you are kindly suggested to use the manual composer module instead.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Finding validated routes in European airspace

TransaTvia.com écrit :

Hi,

Over Italy, the implementation of direct routing (Free Route Airspace) is a challenge for the usual auto-routers like RouteFinderFree of EuroFPL NM Proposal.

Most of the times, routes that used to be easy to find, even with the NM proposal at EuroFPL, cannot be found anymore. Either EuroFPL drops without finding a solution, or the solution is not valid (for instance, the path does not pass through a published FRA entry or exit point).

So far I found that the best auto-route algorithm was from RocketRoute. I was able to experiment the demonstration version. However it cost 280 euros excluding VAT, to get the IFR auto-routing function after the demonstration period of 14 days is expired.

After more researches I found that PFPX was not able to find automatically a route validated at CFMU either. This popular 50 euros software in the flight simulation community is no more efficient than the free tool I usually recommand (that is, EuroFPL) to find validated route in some complexe cases.

Using Rocket Route algorithm, we were able to find some usefull information that you can incorporate here in YART when your flight passes inside Italian airspace.
